June, 2008: The Watercolor Artist's Guide to Exceptional Color is now available. A Quarto Book, published in 2007 for N. America  by Walter Foster Publishing, Inc. A close-up of my watercolor painting, "Paradise", is on page100.

June, 2008: "Fanfare Earrings", my second article for "Step By Step Beads" magazine, was published in Vol. 6, No.4, the July-August 2008 edition.   

February, 2008: "Braided Chokers" a tutorial article, was published in "Step By Step Beads", Vol.6, No.1, January-February 2008.    

2008: Marin Museum of Contemporary Art opens in Novato, CA.  "Beautiful Beetles" is selected for inclusion in its inaugural show, the National Juried Exhibition.    

2007: The Watercolor Flower Artist's Bible, An Essential Reference for the Professional Artist,  is now available in bookstores. A Quarto Book, edited by Claire Waite Brown, published by Chartwell Books, Inc, NJ, 2007.   My paintings are on pages150, 152, & 181.    

2007: 3 clownfish illustrations are published in the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators bulletin, July-August 2007 edition.

2007: "Paradise" is selected for inclusion  in Exceptional Color by Quarto Publishing, London.  

2007:  "Violet Jade Gems", "Japanese Maple", & "Purple Lisianthus" are selected for inclusion in The Watercolor Flower Painter's Bible, by Quarto Publishing, London

2007: First Place Award: For "Amazon Insects" at Marin Society of Artist's May, 2007 juried show,  "Living Land & Sea".

 

2006:  Big Brothers and Sisters of Marin sponsored a fundraising auction featuring bowling pins painted by local artists. My contribution is titled "Striking a Balance".    

2006: Amazon Jungle Trip: I went on a fabulous trip on the Rio Negro in the heart of the Amazon jungle with my father and sister in May. The focus was on natural history, so we did lots of bird-watching. I've been working on a new set of cards based on my Amazon watercolor paintings. They can be viewed here: Amazon Collection.   I am also working on  new paintings of Amazon -inspired insects and butterflies. The preliminary insect watercolors and  the first completed new large paintings can be seen here: Butterflies, & Amazon Insects. A complete identification guide is included for each of these new pieces.

2006: Book cover Illustration: Dr. Sharlene Hesse-Biber, Director of Women's Studies at Boston College, requested the use of "Galactic Storms" as the cover illustration for  her new book, The Practice of Feminist Research: A Primer. It is co-authored with Patricia Leavy. Published by Sage Publications, Inc.   

2006: Book cover Illustration: Dr. Hesse-Biber has also requested the use of "Connections" for the cover of a second textbook, The Handbook of Feminist Research. Published by Sage Publications, Inc.  

2006: The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) purchased use of 4 illustrations to appear in their  journal.

2006: Reader's Digest: Purchased rights for unlimited use of "Violet Jade Gems".                            

2006: An illustration appears in Chris Strodder's new children's book, Stories Light and Dark, published by Red Hen Press.

2005: First Place Award: for "Bits of Flight" at Marin Society of Artist's June, 2005 juried show,  "Flora & Fauna".

2004: Featured Artist at Artisans Gallery, National Watercolor Exhibition, May 2004. 

 

2004: HGTV invited Lucy to be part of its new series, "Crafters Coast to Coast", which was aired in fall '04.  Lucy was shown creating one of her miniature shoes of polymer clay, Baby Blue Elephant Stomp.  

 

2004: Mrs. Grossman's Paper Co. produced two versions of Lucy's Letters  as stickers. They were introduced at the New York Stationery Show in May, 2004.  

 

2004: "Bits of Flight" awarded Honorable Mention at Marin Society of Artist's June, 2004 juried show, "Inspired by Nature". 

 

2004: "Foundlings" received Merit Award at "Open Art and Craft" Juried show in August, 2004.  Marin Society of Artists.

 

2004: "Tropical Wings" awarded Third Place in Marin Society of Artist's February, 2004 juried show, “Patterns”.
