Working in many layers, I always allow something of each previous layer to show through to increase the sense of depth. Colors are applied by dripping, pouring or spattering within a specific wet area of the paper. It is necessary to allow the paper to dry between each application of paint, so this process goes on for many days. By the time the painting is completed, only glimpses of the original light wash show through the complex layers of watercolor, acrylic ink, and bronze powders. Most of the time it takes me to create each piece is spent sitting silently looking and waiting for inner direction before taking the next step. When I feel that nothing more is needed, I know the painting is finished.
